yup. >>> welcome back to "nbc bay area news tonight." so a lot of things happened during today's solar eclipse. if you want to geek out here, it was more than just seeing the moon block the sun. here's what happened. because the sun got blocked, the temperature dropped. animals that normally come out at night all of a sudden made an appearance during the day. there were plenty of people in the path of totality who saw plenty of bats. there's also a lot of little things that you can see in the sky. joining us now is jessica agnos, an astronomer at san francisco state. jessica, what a day. i can see the smile on your face. how excited were you to see all this today? >> well, i was in-studio, so i didn't get to see totality because i was there today. but, you know, i got to see 35% coverage with the rest of nbc bay area staff, and it was beautiful. >> it was really fun. okay. let's geek out here. in places like texas and indianapolis and cleveland, all the cool places to be today, they saw what's called a diamond ring effect during this ecl
